Yuriy YuzifovichHead of Security Innovation Labs at ALIBABA CLOUD
Yuriy founded Security Innovation Labs at Alibaba Cloud in May 2018. His team is transforming cloud security from primarily relying on humans to building intelligent machines to detect, gather context, interpret, and remediate cybersecurity attacks with real-time data processing.
Passionate about creating and motivating high-performance diverse teams, Yuriy believes innovation can be managed to consistently produce results with measurable business impact, moving from ideation to production in a continuous flow. After multiple successful digital transformations, he likes to share his experiences and advice with other leaders through speaking at conferences and delivering webinars.
Before Alibaba Cloud, Yuriy led data science and security at Nominum, an early pioneer in Internet revolution, and transformed what it was a network infrastructure company into a data-driven cybersecurity leader, acquired by Akamai in 2017. This acquisition gave him a unique perspective as to what makes technology mergers successful. Yuriy holds Master’s degree in Computer Science from Samara State Aerospace University and a graduate degree from Washington University.
Yuriy filed patents across a variety of different areas, from cybersecurity to data analytics, smart cities, and self-driving cars. His research in Fresnel imaging was picked up by the Breakthrough foundation as one of the imaging technology candidates for its mission to send laser-powered nanosatellites to Alpha Centauri, a tribute to his father who was a leading engineer in a Soviet space program. He continues to instill the inventive mindset in his own three children.
