In her role as Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer for the Specialty Products Division of DowDuPont, Alexa leads the alignment of business strategy, innovation strategy, and portfolio choices to increase the speed and scale of impact from science-based innovation investment. In addition, she oversees the company’s differentiated technology capabilities.
Alexa has played a key role in driving entrepreneurial, innovation-based growth in the company through close collaboration with customers and strategic partners. Among other accomplishments, she’s helped lead the transformation of the company’s R&D efforts from a centralized approach into a more responsive, business-centered innovation engine.
Alexa’s passion for enabling science-based innovation to contribute to business growth has been a consistent theme throughout her 27-year career at DuPont. Her service to the company spans a wide range of roles and responsibilities. She’s been a research chemist and a technical manager, and has experience in supply chain, operations, sales, marketing, and more. She’s held business leadership positions in Advanced Fibers Systems, Building Innovations and Performance Polymers. She’s served as Global Business Director for the corporate new business development venture in Energy Storage. Prior to assuming her current role in 2017, Alexa led DuPont Central Research and Development. All these experiences and more have prepared her to serve as Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer for the new DuPont.
Beyond her service to DuPont, Alexa serves on the dean’s advisory board for Penn State’s Eberly College of Science and is active with Delaware Innovation Space, a partnership with the University of Delaware and the state that seeks to help incubate and grow startups. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Northern Illinois University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University.
