On September 1, 2015, Dr. Todd Fruchterman was appointed President and General Manager of 3M’s Critical & Chronic Care Solutions Division, having previously served as Senior Vice President, Research & Development and Regulatory Affairs, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Technology Officer, 3M Health Care. He is also a member of 3M’s Executive Conference. Prior to joining 3M in February 2011, Dr. Fruchterman was Executive Vice President, CTO and CMO at Kinetic Concepts, Inc., in San Antonio, Texas. In his 25year career, he also has held various positions at Johnson & Johnson, where he most recently led worldwide biosurgical R&D for the Ethicon division; Schering-Plough, where he directed medical and strategic marketing for their hepatitis business; and Response Genetics, Inc., where he held the positions of President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.
Dr. Fruchterman’s broad-based health care experience spans the clinical, scientific and business arenas. In industry he has focused on innovation methodology and helping find ways for large companies to organically grow through the commercialization of novel technologies. He is the recipient of several prestigious academic awards, has authored numerous scientific papers on trauma surgery and physiologic responses to hemorrhage.
Dr. Fruchterman is an adviser for the Portal Instruments Board of Directors, a member of the Executive Council of Spindletop Capital, LLC, a member on the AdvaMed Board of Directors, and he has also served on the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics Executive Advisory Board, the Executive Committee of BioMed SA of San Antonio, the Board of Directors for LifeScience Alley and on the Board of Directors of the Texas Life Science Center.
Dr. Fruchterman earned his Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Louisville, and his Medical Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Pennsylvania.
